Erwin Velasquez was born in Jakarta May 16, 1962, was the second child of seven siblings and spouse Sumapraja Sariati Kodiat Velasquez, he received formal music education with classical piano lessons for two years, since he was still in grade 4 elementary school in Jakarta. Since the 6th grade, he was jamming in the amateur band as a bass player.
